I can't install .NET Framework 3.5 or 4, despite trying both automatic updates and the standalone installers Microsoft offers on their website. I've tried renaming files and clearing temp, but nothing's worked. I would post my vslogs but I'm not sure how to do it.

Force NET Framework 4.0 to install on C-partition using fully updated Windows XP sp3

Dear Microsoft Forums moderator(s) and/or participants:

Knowing you'll want to see my install log files, I'll provide them below. I'm pretty sure I've figured out what the problem is but can't find advice on how to fix it.

I've been working on this issue off and on for days. I've searched the Internet far-and-wide and looked at all of the "failed install" threads that appear to the left of this posting, but I have yet to find anyone commenting on NET Framework 4.0 installer file's search for the largest drive or partition attached to a PC.

When I start "dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe," my hard drive makes a "grrurrrt" sound as if the program is searching for something on it. Then, if I'm in any environment other than Safe Mode (and, believe me, I've tried "clean boot" and "normal startup" modes in both User and Administrator protocols more than once each), nothing more happens, even if I walk away from the computer and let it sit unattended for ten minutes or more.

In Safe Mode, I can get the installer to run until it reaches the screen for .NET Framework 4 Setup "Installation Did Not Succeed."

When I click through from that screen to the "log file" link, I get the following text. Note the “CommandLine” (third below) assignment to drive H:

OS Version = 5.1.2600, Platform 2, Service Pack 3

OS Description = WinXP - x86 Professional Service Pack 3

CommandLine = H:\7640a18f44902c2d52f0143561e775\\Setup.exe /x86 /x64TimeZone = Central Standard TimeInitial LCID = 1033

This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance. " (Elapsed time: 0 00:00:20).

Obviously, I'm "running in safe mode" because I can get nowhere with the install in any other mode. And, among many other suggested "fixes" I've attempted, I've checked to be certain that Windows Installer msiexec.exe is located in C:\WINDOWS\system32. Further, I can clearly see error code 0x80070641 in the final result above, but I cannot find that particular code covered anywhere for NET 4 installation attempts.

In my opinion, the problem most likely arises in the install program's sequence of searching through available drives and attempting install on the largest:

I can't fathom why the program isn't written to search for the System drive; that seems to be what all previous NET Framework versions have done. My C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework file currently contains folders for v1.0.3705, v1.1.4322, v2.0.50727 (sp2), v3.0 sp2, and v3.5 sp1. I did nothing during the install and updates of these programs to force them onto the C-drive.

Now, though, what I hope for is a method to force the install to run on drive C:, not H or some even larger external drive I might have attached. (Yes, that happened, too, and I've had to disconnect all externals to get to this point.) Is there perhaps some method for running this installation from the command prompt? By the way, my main internal drive is big enough that I've partitioned it into 7 portions, the smallest of which is the System "C" partition at 50 GB. Even so, the C-partition currently has 39GB of free space and that ought to be sufficient to accommodate this install.

Please do not suggest re-partitioning or a clean install. After weeks of work re-provisioning this machine, I have far too much data already situated on the various drive partitions to start over. Also, FYI, I am able to get the Client Profile version of NET 4.0 to install regularly on the machine, but I've already run into two different programs that insist I install the full version in order to enable their installs/operations. That's why I'm pursuing this matter.

I would be hugely grateful for any ideas how to resolve it.

Regards,

Steve

I am seventy years old and have had computers since 1976, I am not a moron but recently purchased a replacement net book having had my last one for several years. MY WIFE AND I HAVE A NETBOOK EACH PLUS A LAPTOP AND EACH HAVE A pc pLUS OF COURSE WE A HAVE A BUSINESS WITH COMPUTERS.

The new one arrived with windows 8.1,/ Fantastic a totally new system to get to grips with nothing like windows seven.

I installed a copy of office 365 and can't load or use it,the help button when I found it was useless.

The print on the srceen is so small I have to use a magnifying glass to read the print and I can't find a way to enlarge it

The list goes on , how I hate these little nerdy people who sit in their offices working out how we should live and work but have little idea of how the people who end up with their product are, age / ability. I am sure that they all think that the customers are all little nerds with computer degrees how I detest them, why can't they just adopt the "KIS" principle, KEEP IT SIMPLE

Sorry about the bad typing but seeing the screen is  a problem. I know that this is a waste of time because aI doubt anyone reads these things but I guess the new generation who will benefit from all of the work that our generation has put into these systems could care less. In good old Anglo Saxon English, I am pissed off!

I've recently used .Net Framework cleanup tool. After reboot, i tried to install .Net Framework 4.5 which i downloaded from Microsoft website. After about 7/9 of the progress bar is filled with green, installer just hangs. No progress after that. I've waited for half an hour but installer just stops there, no error or anything. It just stops.

What may be the problem?

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

vs2012 won't target .Net 4.5 on windows server 2012

$

Greetings,

I have vs2012 update 4 installed on windows 7 and targeting .Net 4.5 works as expected.  A client however has the need to install vs2012 on a dev windows 2012 server (running BizTalk 2013) but so far I have been unsuccessful.  .Net 4.5 is installed on the server, but vs2012 will not recognize it as existing.

Things I have tried:

uninstall/reinstall .Net 4.5

install both 8.0 & 8.1 sdks (4.51 will display in vs as an option but BizTalk 2013 cannot use it)

ran the .Net verification tool and 4.5 passed without issue.

Any ideas?

Ted

.Net framework 4 installs on windows xp SP3 successfully but fails to run applications

Hi

I developed a .net 4 application on a windows 8 64-bit system and for testing i already run it on several windows xp and 7 machines .

but in some cases on windows xp sp3 the .net frame work 4 install successfully but fails to run any application that use .net framework 4.0 .

first i guess that problem could possibly be for my application but then i tried to run simple application with just a message box and result was the same.

i tried reinstall several times and use standalone installer of .net framework .

also tried to install .net frame work 3.5 and WIC but that makes no difference .

already search similar problems and all of them solved by re installing windows , but this is not a option for me ( because the computer that have this problem belongs to president of the company that  ordered the software !!!)

unattended install of .net 4.5.1 with sccm 2012

hi everyone,

i am trying to create an unattended install of .net 4.5.1 using sccm 2012.

My command line is "NDP451-KB2858728-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe" /quiet /log C:\net451.logand it is set up to install for system whether user is logged in or not.The install starts and I can see the process run for the NDP451-KB2858728-x86-x64-AllOS-ENU.exe but then nothing happens, it just hangs whether there is a user logged in or not and it doesn’t even create the log file. Again, this is through sccm. If I just run from the command line, it works. Sccm seems to be doing its job of triggering the installer to run, but something must be going wrong. If I change the cmd line and remove the quiet command, it then works through sccm, but prompts for input (agreeing to terms) which we dont want.

any ideas would be appreciated.

webHttpBinding not found because module System.ServiceModel.Web.dll is not present

Ok, so I'm trying to use Nexus Mod Manager (Nexus is a website that hosts game mods for a variety of games, and the mod manager manages any mods using the Nexus package format so I can quickly install and uninstall mods without manually going through and deleting all extra files associated with the mod).  However, I'm getting the the error "Unrecognized element 'webHttpBinding'." shortly after launching the program.  I went to the website for the program, and they recommended some steps that involved checking .NET framework 3.5.

I created a batch file:

cd c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5
WFServicesReg.exe /c /v > "C:\Users\Michael\Desktop\WFServicesReg.txt"
cd ..\..\Framework64\v3.5
WFServicesReg.exe /c /v > "C:\Users\Michael\Desktop\WFServicesReg64.txt"

Buried in the resulting text files are the following snippets that seem relevant:

Framework:

CConfigEntry::IsPresent
szPath=system.serviceModel/extensions/bindingExtensions/add[@name='webHttpBinding' and @type='System.ServiceModel.Configuration.WebHttpBindingCollectionElement, System.ServiceModel.Web, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35']
CFxInstaller::SetupExtensions extensionElement.AddToConfigFile() failed.
Value=System.ServiceModel.Configuration.WebHttpBindingCollectionElement, System.ServiceModel.Web,
Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35, Error code: 0x80004005

Framework64:

CExtensionElement::SetData
szName=webHttpBinding
szType=System.ServiceModel.Configuration.WebHttpBindingCollectionElement, System.ServiceModel.Web, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35
szXPath=system.serviceModel/extensions/bindingExtensions/addCFxInstaller::SetupExtensions
skipping binding webHttpBinding because module System.ServiceModel.Web.dll is not present

I've tried looking up "error 0x80004005" and "module System.ServiceModel.Web.dll is not present", but I can't seem to find anything useful.

I've tried uninstalling and (restarting the computer and) reinstalling Framework 3.5 via both the GUI and the command line, and it seems to work, but then I get the same error when trying to run the mod manager, and the same output from WFServicesReg.exe.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Conflict after Framework 4.5 desinstallation before new installation

Hi,

I didn't found the same errors I have.
After installing a driver update to my grafic card AMD HD5800 Series, the grafic window of my CAO software Autodesk Inventor is no more readable, see pictures. All other applications are well fonctioning.
Trying to go back and install an older driver, AMD asked to desinstall and reinstall Net.Framework 4.5. This operation is not possible. I wanted to join pictures with the errors message frome Framework but the message "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account"

I try with Framework repair tool, but I could remove the rest of Framework.

I tryed to clean and repair with CCleaner without success.
I tryed to clean and repair with Glary Utilities Maintenance one click without success. I asked Glary Soft if some utilities could clean and repair, the answer is not. Ask Framework developper.
What should I do to remove every thing from Net.framework to be able to install it new with an older driver AMD?

I'm 60 years old and not specialist in computer. Please explain clearly what I should do. Eventual, is it possible using Teamviewer that you procede to the correction?

Precision: system Windows 7-64

In advance thank you

Best regards
