Visual Studio does not detect .NET Framework 4

Hello, I have installed Visual Studio 2010 Professional, which also installed .NET Framework 4.

When I try to create a new project, it only gives me the option to use Frameworks 2, 3 and 3.5 . v4.0 does not appear on the drop down list.

Also, when I try opening a .NET Framework 4 project I get the "this project is targeting ".NET Framework=v4.0"" error.

I've used the tool to see if .NET Framework 4 is correctly installed, and it is!

I don't understand, I've uninstalled and installed Framework 4 and VS2010 a thousand times, clean installs and all and VS still does not detect that Framework 4 is installed. I've also tried installing the standalone version of Framework 4, but no dice. Please help, I'm desperate!

My system is Windows 7 x64 Home Premium, 8g ram, intel i7...

Thanks!

Windows 8.1 need to install .NET 3.5 but can not add via Control Panel

Hi - i'm running Windows 8.1 Update 1. It has .NET 4 as standard I need to add .NET 3.5 for some reason once our machines are on the domain adding 3.5 via control panel does not work (its not our web filter, as switching to guest networks has the same result - so does changing myself to a work group) its like the download it blocked.

I followed a link from another post on here to download the full 200mb .NET 3.5 installer - however even running that offline it still wants to go online to use Windows Update for some reason.

We have 150 Windows 8.1 devices in the estate and do not want to have to rebuild them all to get .NET 3.5 added - please help, its pretty critical for us.

.NET Framework error when trying to open programs

$

Hello

A few days ago I started getting a .NET Framework error pop up whenever I open certain programs. For some reason I can't upload screenshots but this is what it says:

"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v.4.0.30319\clr.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f"

This is what pops up when I try to open some of my programs. I have no idea what could have caused this or why it happens.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Nothing I've tried has helped so far.

Hi,

We are preparing the installer using visual studio for our application. while building the projects the target platform we have set to "ANYCPU". However we observed that in the setup project, it does not have ANYCPU option and hence it is not installing in x64 bit OS.

Could you please suggest? Here is the image for more info.

Migrating from 32 bit to 64

I am looking for some help with run-time errors in C++ application while converting to 64-bit. It worked fine in 32-bit for almost a decade. I compiled it using Visual Studio 2010 64-bit compiler. There are no compiler errors. The project compiles into a dll file, which is used by an executable (.exe) application also compiled in 64-bit.The problem I encountered is while passing parameters to Oracle PL/SQL procedure. After debugging the problem I learned that the value I am passing to Oracle has an extra null character at the end, and it runs fine without any problem when it comes to 32 bits version.

To get around that, I am using a CString variable in C++, which I am passing to the PL/SQL procedure. I removed the null character within the SQL code for now, but I understand that this is not a long-term solution.

What may be something that I am missing so I can get it to work in 64 bits as well without having to do any code changes? I don't want to do any code change because if I do I have do the changes in stored procedures and have to do that in each and every procedure (???). Definitely there has to be a better way to get this into working. If any one knows what I need to do or at least if you think I should try, pleas feel free to make me aware. The help will be greatly appreciated.

Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate Downloaded from DreamSpark Fails Installation - Missing WebDeploy_x64.msi

Greetings,

I downloaded VS2012 Ultimate from DreamSpark (college faculty) and began an install on my Win7 64 bit/8GB RAM desktop.  It failed and reported "Unable to locate source" and listed C:\VS2012Download\Visual Studio Ultimate 2012 (x86) - Web Installer (English)\packages\WebDeploy\WebDeploy_x64.msi as the missing file.   After I cancel I receive the final message:  "A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file.".

I also have a clean Azure instance of 2008 Svr R2 that I attempted the installation on and received the same results.  I suspect the download.  Any ideas?

Thanks much!

Garbage Collection issue with windows server 2012 64-bit r2 kb2919355 update

We're testing our project on "windows server 2012 64-bit r2 with updates" (MSDN download) and we're noticing that IIS and ASP.NET State Server have serious issues with garbage collection. We can reproduce this issue with other ASP.NET projects, even very basic projects, so it appears to be a global problem. This can be reproduced with a very basic install of the windows OS (i.e. no applications / software installed).

See the screenshot below:

This behavior does not occur in "windows server 2012 64-bit" or "windows server 2012 64-bit r2". It will occur in "windows server 2012 64-bit r2" after you run windows updates, specifically: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355

Has anyone else noticed this problem?

I am trying to install sync Framework so I can sync two databases using visual studio. When I go through the process for Microsoft Sync Framework 2.1, it tells me I need NET Framework version 2.0 or greater. I have Visual Studio 2013 and it utilizes .net Framework 4.5.

background audio

Hi,

I am using Visual Studio Express 2013 to build a very simple app that will play small audio files. So far I cannot get the app to recognize backgroundaudioplayer references. I have perused samples but have not been able to implement in any way. I tried using Imports in app.xaml.vb but that got me nowhere. Maybe I am going down the wrong track?

I am a novice in this so I apologize if I am missing the obvious.

Thanks

IIS7 Web Application - Deployment Best Practices

$

I am trying to locate a Microsoft best practices documentation for Web application deployment to IIS.  The topic that I have concern most is in the "Root" directory deployment.  Some say that it is against best practices to deploy my web application to the root folder, but I've not been able to locate these documentation to support these claim.

Why it keep giving 3 warning when building a project on windows server 2012, while no warning in my local machine?

Hi guys,

Currently, I faced a weird problem.  I create a simple C# console sample, and build on my local PC, everything is fine, no error, no warning. However, when I build it on my server(windows server 2012), it gives me 3 warnings. In both way, I use "msbuild E:\Hudson\workspace\Sample1\Sample1.sln" to build the project...

How can I get rid of these warnings, any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Detail info of Warning:

My local PC:

With VS2010 and VS 2012 installed.

Configured the Environment Variables:FRAMEWORK_HOME = C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319

Windows Server 2012:

Just configure the Environment Variables:FRAMEWORK_HOME = C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319
