Can NET Framework's deletion affect System Properties?

$
0
0

I have installed "Slow-PC Fighter" and it says "Volume Shadow Copy service used by System Restore is not working".  When I attempt to reset my restore functions on "System Properties", the tab does not allow changes.  Are these related to my uninstall of NET Frameworks?

I am retired, not a programmer and do not develop or change things with programs like NET Frameworks.  Although I've been working with computers for 50 years (yes, fifty!), there were no warnings NET Frameworks uninstall would affect System Properties.

Any help or advice?

Cheers and God Bless Y'all!

Deploying .NET 4.5

I'm not sure whether this is the correct place to post this, but here goes:

I'm wondering if there is an 'official' or 'correct' way to install the .NET framework?  I would like to target the .NET 4.5 framework in my applications because of the various language enhancements that it contains.  However, despite the fact that .NET 4.5 has been released for about a year, some of the IT/security folks in my company are of the opinion that .NET 4.5 isn't really officially released by Microsoft until it becomes available via System Center or Windows Update.  Consequently, they don't want to deploy it to user machines until it becomes available in this manner.

I can certainly understand their desire to not have to build their own SCCM package, but I'm wondering if their thinking is correct.  Aside from not having to build an SCCM package, is there any reason NOT to deploy .NET 4.5 until its made available via System Center?  If so, when might this framework update actually be made available through something other than direct download from Microsoft?

I guess I'm trying to do a quick sanity check.  I can't possibly be the only developer targeting .NET 4.5.  Yet within my company, it's as if I'm 'going rogue' by even suggesting it.  Is there a 'correct' way to do it?  How do others approach this?

I have a Garmin GPS in my car which is Model 2597 and when I try to install the Garmin POI loader it says it requires Net Framework 3.5

Strange thing is that I have updated all the Net framework versions with Windows Update in my Windows 8 Pro including Net Framework 4.5 however this appears not to be suitable for the Garmin POI Loader.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Need to stop Service before an upgrade, trying to use CSService.exe, just get errors how to use it?

Hello, I've recently found the SvcInstall.zip to automatically put the ServiceInstall and ServiceControl entries into my setup msi. I understand you edit the POST Build Event in the setup and call something. I'm assuming you call CSService.exe and pass the ServiceSetup.xml file as the argument. IF this is correct then something else is wrong.

My Env

Win7 64bit

MS VS 2010 Premium

Here's what I did

  • I downloaded SvcInstall.zip.
  • Ran the installer for CSInstall.msi
  • edited Post Build Event in Setup solution
  • added path to CSService.exe with argument of ServiceSetup.xml
  • Edited ServiceSetup.xml and Put all the Service into into it.

The error I get is "PostBuildEvent failed with error code 1 Unspecified error" when building the setup solution.

I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly. Was I suppose to do anything with the InstallSvc project that was included in the zip. The document is very descriptive with the history of the many ways to install a service and the tables in the msi but not very descriptive in how to implement the CSService.exe.

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Today I was trying to fix my GTA game by uninstalling .net framework 4.5 I had and then re-installing it. But every time I tried to install the .NET framework 4.0 (standalone installer) the installer starts downloading and then after a few seconds it says:"the specified service does not exist as an installed service" or the turkish version of that is the actual writing that pops out "Belirtilen hizmet, yüklü bir hizmet olarak yok". I really need a fix and here are my Log's:

intellisense

I have been trying to migrate an application to .Net using C++/CLI , but to no avail. First when using vse2010 I am allowed to create a GUI for my App using FORMS, but with no intellisense, disappointment!!! After I tried 2012/13, there is intellisense, but I am not allowed to create a GUI for my app using FORMS, more disappointment!!! What a joke this .Net is, Microsoft first tells us that .Net works with C++, but having the tools to make the transition easier, it hides the tools or just make it virtually impossible to port C++ applications to .Net.

To every programmer with extensive experience in the I.T. industry I say... We have had encountered GUI toolkits that were dropped by big companies like Microsoft, .Net will not be the exception.

To the new I.T. developers I say... If you think that because a monster company like Microsoft is backing up this toolkit it will not be dropped, well... let me give you a bit of info, we, the more experienced programmers, also thought that a monster company like Borland would never drop its brilliant GUI toolkit named Object Windows Library, when at the time OWL was said to be, and commonly used as a preferred replacement for MFC. In fact, MFC was detested by all developers. Needless to say, the monster company dropped the toolkit in favour of Delphi; and who the hell uses Delphi now a day!? Borland went down and with it millions of code written in OWL and some idiot who adopted Delphi also went down with it.

Who ever puts all his/her eggs in .Net will go down with it when Microsoft realizes that .Net has been rejected for lack of feasibility.

Good bye .Net, there is Java, JavaScript and Python, toolkits that do not make deceiving promises to their users. And for truly portable C++ GUI applications there is GTK and gtkmm or better yet the monster Qt GUI toolkit.

In the absence of clearly-defined goals, we become strangely loyal to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it.

Is there a .NET Framework version somewhere that I can just re-install that already has all of the updates included?

$

I am not a developer but a regular consumer. If this is not the correct place to post my question, please let me know where I can find the answer I need.<o:p></o:p>

I thought this was a Windows Update issue but it might actually be a .NET Framework issue instead.<o:p></o:p>

Windows (Vista) updates not configured correctly. Reverting changes.

Problem started in January 2013. I have tried all of the fixes that I could find from Microsoft websites and others.

I re-installed .NET Framework in April 2013 (following the instructions that were provided).

Now most of the newer updates will install but some old updates will not install.

I have to deselect the ones that keep failing each time or newer updates will not install either.

I have been working on this for over 7 months.

I have tried all of the answers on this site but several windows updates for .NET Framework still won’t install.

Is there a .NET Framework version somewhere that I can just re-install that already has all of the updates included???

Can someone please help?

Issues with Windows Update details below:

Security Update for Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86 (KB2742601) (Published: 1/8/2013) will not install.

KB2742601 first failed to install on 1/9/2013 with code 80071A2C and kept failing with this code until 3/10/2013 when it failed with code 80070643. Then, from 3/29/2013 to 8/10/2013 it failed with either code 80071A2C or code 80070643.

It might have failed with other codes between January and August but I don’t know for sure. I randomly checked the records in my update history to find the ones listed above and then went record by record to find when it changed again.

Between 8/5/2013 and 8/10/2013 my computer has, periodically, not been able to install any updates. Sometimes I start installing the updates at night and they are still trying to install the next morning. I have to power off my computer to get back on. After I restart my computer, KB2742601 is still pending installation with code 80242014 listed on my windows update history.

After I re-installed.NET Framework, in April 2013, the old Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB959209) x86 (Published: 6/23/2009) failed to install.

KB959209 first failed on 4/27/2013 with code 80070005. Last time it failed was on 8/10/2013 with the same code. It still won’t install.

After I re-installed .NET Framework, in April 2013, the old Update to .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 for the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 x86 (KB963707) (Published: 6/30/2009) failed to install.

KB963707 first failed on 4/27/2013 with code 80070005. Last time it failed was on 8/10/2013 with the same code. It still won’t install.

Security Update for Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86 (KB2833947) (Published: 7/9/2013) failed to install.

KB2833947 first failed to install on 7/14/2013 with code 80071AA7. Between 7/14/2013 and 8/10/2013 it kept failing with either code 80071AA7 or code 80070643. KB2833947 is still pending installation with code 80242014 listed on my windows update history.

.NET Globalization settings on IIS7 incorrect

$

Hi

My DataFormatString="{0:c}" to render amounts for a 'English (South Africa) (en-ZA)' culture incorrectly uses a comma (,) as a decimal symbol instead of a period (.)

So my amounts look like:

R 290,00

instead of

R 290.00

I've checked the OS settings and they are correct. I believe this might be an error in IIS7's hardcoded culture settings for this culture. Is there anyway we can fix this?

Thanks,

-C

.NET Framework 4 unable to install on Windows 7 64-bit

$

Hi, I've searched around for possible fixes for this problem but I had no luck in being able to install .NET.

A few seconds after attempting to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile, a message pops up, saying that".NET Framework 4 has not been installed because:

The requested operation failed. A system reboot is required to rollback changes made."

Methods I've tried:

1. Uninstalling my current .NET Framework 4, then rebooting/restarting and reinstalling .NET

2. Using the .NET Framework Cleanup Tools to clean all versions of .NET, rebooting then reinstalling

3. Installing while my computer was in a clean boot state

Regardless of what I do, all of these methods ended up with the same "system reboot is required" message after failed installation. It seems that rebooting/restarting my computer wouldn't do anything..

I've used the .NET Framework 4 (Standalone installer) for these methods.

If it helps (doubt it), I was initially trying to install AutoCAD on this computer, and realised that AutoCAD wouldn't install because of .NET Framework 4 being either outdated or not on the same version as AutoCAD requires.

Thanks.
