.NET 4.0 applications broken with latest .NET Framework 4.5 versions

$

Hi ,

We have some applications/libraries which were built using .NET Framework 4.5 and tested with .NET Framework 4.0 only scenarios. It was working fine. Based on this, we informed our customers to continue with 4.0 if they want. But with the latest .NET 4.5, we see that the same scenarios are not working and it will force our users to upgrade to 4.5. Is there a way to provide a workaround for this? Since we have not used anything specific to FW 4.5, we do not want to force our users to move to FW 4.5. We had valid reasons to use 4.5 to build since other products wanted 4.5 and changing it back to 4.0 is not an option.

I am getting the following error "System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'System.Security.Claims.ClaimsIdentity' from assembly 'mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neu tral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' " .

Thanks

Vishwa

Bought a PC/Tablet running Windows 10 and boy what fun I am having, not.

ADE can't install without .Net Framework 3.5 SP 1

.Net Framework 3.5 SP installation requires previous Installer 3.1

Installer 3.1 has a link offered but after a while prompts an error message that the page can't be found, nice!

No better luck from the Microsoft download center so I just keep going round and round.....I am (evidently no doubt) not a developer just a frustrated user....and help that actually works out there?

How do I download .NET?

$

Can anyone provide me with a working download link to .NET 4.5.1 or later? I can't get links from MSDN to download. I either get page not found or gateway errors.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42643

That purports to be the web installer.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=42642

According to Google.co.uk that's the url for the 4.5.2 offline installer.

But they both just give me gateway errors:

"

Gateway Timeout

The proxy server did not receive a timely response from the upstream server.

Office 2016 pro, .net framework 4.5 & windows 10 Home x64

I have a windows 10 64 bit machine that I am trying to install office 2016 pro 64 bit. It errors out with the following "Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s): This product requires Microsoft .Net Framework 4.5. Correct the issue(s) listed above and re-run the setup"

So I go and do the logical thing I find .net framework and see there is a 4.5.2 version I try to run the installer and I get the error ".Net Framework 4.5.2 or a later update is already installed on this computer."

Being who I am, I am a curious person and I find out what version of .net framework I have going to the followingHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full and find the  registry key "Release" is the name and its a DWORD  and looking at the versions on the following "https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh925568(v=vs.110).aspx#net_b" . It looks like I am running version 4.6.1

So looking at the following "https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb822049(v=vs.110).aspx" it looks like 4.5 isn't meant for windows 10. So now I am in a quandary. I am on the latest version and I cannot install office 2016. . . . this should not be a problem. . .

any ideas on a fix or a work around for this guys?

Thanks,

P.s. I apologize for the horrible links but Microsoft wont let me add them to the content until my account has been verified and I haven't got a verification email.

Hello, everyone! I have a problem. When I try to publish my program it makes a publish folder and a setup.exe. But, when I take the setup.exe out of the publish folder it doesn't work. I just need to be able to have to program I created on my desktop and the capability of sharing it over skype. And one more thing - Whenever I do publish it the setup.exe has a default Icon. Even though I go to solution explorer and change the Icon.

Does Windows Server 2012 R2 support .NET Framework 4.0?

$

Hi there,

We have a legacy web application that requires .NET framework 4.0 specifically. It won't work with newer versions of the framework. We plan to move this application to a brand new server which has a Windows Server 2012 R2 64 bit OS.

Would we be able to install .NET framework 4.0 on this OS?

Thanks in advance for any insight,

Unable to installl .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on Windows 10 WITHOUT internet

I have the requirement to install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on Windows 10 where NO internet connection is available. The solutions mentioned in thisarticle are therefor no solution for me. Furthermore I found this workaround, which also doesn't seem to work.

Using the Windows install media as suggested here is also no option for me, as I can't expect from our customer to handle this "difficult IT task" ...

So, how can I install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on a Windows 10 PC where definitely NO internet connection is available. Btw. I need it to install SQL Server 2016 ...

Solving Errors 800F0906 and 800f081f activating NFW3.5 in Win8.1

$

Judging by the masses of queries on forums and pages of advice on MSDN, Microsoft made a serious error of judgement when it decided not to install the previous version of Net Framework (3.5) by default. Many modern, current applications still require v3.5.

After a reinstall of my Win8 and upgrade to 8.1, I found two programs that failed to activate NFW3.5, both crashing out. There followed two days of purusing numerous websites to find a solution. google throws up hundreds of pages, but most repeat the basic MS advice - use Control Panel/Enable Features or run DISM. Neither would work for me, giving errors 800F0906 and 800f081f respectively - source not found.

I read every one of Aaron Stebner's many blog pages and tried every suggestion. Nothing worked. I even downloaded an unofficial Framework install package but all this did was run the DISM command and fell over. I ran the netfix utils from MS, I disabled all services except MS's. I changed Group Policies. I downloaded an ISO for Win8.1 to ensure I had a sound /sources/sxs folder. Nothing.

In desperation I reinstalled Win8.1 from my new ISO burnt onto DVD. Immediately it was finished I went into CP/Add features and selected NFW3.5 and bingo. It worked. This is a pretty drastic route to take Microsoft. You are surely aware of the extent of this problem? Where is the fix please?

Meanwhile I hope this entry will help people in a similar fix to me.

I am developing an Azure WCF WebService, and I want to connect it with an AWS mysql database, but when I try to use it from the client app i get an error "Unable to connect to any of the specified mysql hosts!" I can connect from the VS ServerExplorer and the exact same function works in a simple consoleapp.

How to get visual studio to recognize the installed frameworks.

$

Hello

I am following this tutorial: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms734712%28v=vs.110%29.aspx

But visual studio does not find the 4.5 framework.  It is installed according to control panel and I have this folder C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319  but visual studio only sees 3.5 as evidenced by C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5 as the highest folder available.  Plus the 4.5 framework refuses to install because it has already been installed.  I tried installing visual studio 2015 which is running now.  I do, however need to use 2008 since the entire ERP system is written in that.

Anyone know how I can fix this?
