Why does Microsoft .NET framework 4.5 slow down my computer?

$

Hey everyone,

I have been suffering through a problem related to .NET framework on my Windows 7 laptop without much success. The basic issue is that .NET framework 4.5 makes my computer really, really slow, to the point where opening any program forces me to restart because it's so slow.

The issue arose recently, since the introduction of updates over the last 2-3 months. The first instance when I encountered this problem, I fresh installed Windows 7. About a month later, when Windows Update triggered, it reinstalled the updates and caused the problem again. I have since disabled Windows Update.

I have had to remove .NET framework completely using the .NET framework cleanup tool (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx) as the uninstall will not work in safe mode and a regular boot is not good for anything as long as .NET framework is installed.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to have .NET because a couple of programs that I use require it to run. Cheers.

Problems with opening my projects

Hello everybody,

Before VS2015 existed, I used VS2013 without any problems. When VS2015 came out, I downloaded and installed that. Since then, I'm not able to open any project at all. I still have both versions ('13 & '15) on my computer, but it gives an error, everytime I try to open a project. See the first screenshot.

I can open any project file with Blend for VS15, or a version selector. The blend thing doesn't do much (it opens and says: "This item does not support previewing." at the bottom)
Everytime I try to open a project, I get that error. Choosing the first option, I get a screen that looks like this:

(Notice the warnings in the error list).

I thought that the second option (downloading some sort of a pack) wasn't very effective as well, but it's a long time ago that I got this problem and spent time in trying to get it working (I just use VS for fun, so when I encountered this problem and I wasn't able to solve it, I didn't was motivated enough to try to get help)

Does anybody know what I should do? I would be really thankful!

I don't know if I am at the right category...?

(And sorry for my bad English, I'm a Dutchie.)

Apparently, my account isn't verified yet so I can't upload images. I'll try to add them in a moment

Can't Use the System.Speech Namespace

Hi There!

When I create a New Project as Visual C# -> Windows -> Universal -> Blank App, I can't use the System.Speech namespace. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Community.

I run Windows 10 on an HP laptop with 4 GB RAM and a 2.40 GHz, 64 bit CPU.

I have all the latest .NET Frameworks installed, as they install automatically, and had them verified with the .NET Framework Setup Verification Tool .

When in Solution Explorer and I right-click on References and choose Add Reference, the Reference Manager displays "No Framework assemblies were found on the machine".

I get the same result when I create a C# New Project and choose Universal under Windows 8. Same when I use C++ instead of C#.

Something seems wrong but I don't know how to fix it and I could not find anything online.

Please help me on this one!

Regards

Mike

Microsoft Pos for .NET 1.14 Setup Wizard ended prematurely

I am unable to get Pos for .Net 1.14 to install on the machine I need to install it on, It always rolls back the install.

The target machine is running windows 10 embedded.  I am able to install this on a different windows 10 pro machine, but one of them(with different hardware) is giving me an error.

I've tried multiple approaches at solving this problem, but the result is always the same.

Here is the part of the installation log where there seems to be trouble.  I don't want to post the entire thing because it's really long, but I can If I have to.

Whenever I try to install .NET Framework with the installer available here, it shows me an error. This is the installation log file:

[10/17/11,19:29:13] Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0a: [2] Error: Installation
failed for component Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0a. MSI returned error code
1603
[10/17/11,19:29:49] WapUI: [2] DepCheck indicates Microsoft .NET Framework
2.0a is not installed.

I've tried the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool. The same error message shows up after I've cleared all installations.

I'm using Windows XP.

What can I do now?

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

How do I enable JIT debugging on my Windows 7 (64 bit) computer? I keep getting different Errors popping up on my computer and the latest one says when I attempted to watch a DVD video with VLC media player but this isn't the first error this week saying that JIT debugging must be enabled and I don't know how to do that : ( "Microsoft Visual C++  Runtime Library"  Assertion Failed! Program C:\Program Files (x86) VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe  File: vm.c

Line: 1765

Expression: pgcit != NULL

For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.

(Press Retry to debug the application- JIT must be enabled)

I have two computers where Visual Studio 2015 Community is Installed. The one on a windows 10 does not show the console application in C#. The one on a windows 7 does.

I re-installed the one in Windows 10 and still I don't see the console application in C#.  Any idea?

Microsoft .NET Framework 4 is already a part of this operating system. You do not need to install the .NET Framework 4 redistributable.

Hi,

I'm trying to install Trados (translation software) and it cannot install and is giving me this error message:

Component Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 (x86 and x64) has failed to install with the following error message:
"A failure occurred attempting to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2."

The following components failed to install:

- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 (x86 and x64)"

I have tried installing .NET Framework from the microsoft website and it gives me this error message:

"Microsoft .NET Framework 4 is already a part of this operating system.  You do not need to install the .NET Framework 4 redistributable."

Same or higher version of .NET Framework 4 has already been installed on this computer."

I have tried going on TURN WINDOWS FEATURES ON OR OFF but when I go there, there is no .NET Framework 4 and I have checked all subfolders and nothing.

Here are the answers to your questions and here are my logs:

http://www.filedropper.com/vslogs

  1. Version of .NET Framework you are trying to install: the latest, would be .NET Framework 4
  2. Where did you get it (web page, path, application that redistributed the framework): I didn't install anything
  3. Is this a pre-release, CTP or beta version? Which? (Beta#, CTP (Month Year), RC, etc): I don't know
  4. What .NET Framework Patches do you currently have installed? : don't know

Thanks in advance for your help !

I'm trying to install Microsoft .net framework 3.5 (which apparently isn't on the computer, Win7) and then it tells me to turn the features on or off, but when I go there it loads for a little while, and then is completely blank, and I would appreciate if anyone has a solution to this.

Microsoft .NET Updates - KB3097996 and KB3098781 - Error 406 Error on .axd files

Microsoft,

Please note that the following updates KB3097996 and KB3098781 broke our company eCommerce Web site on all browsers Firefox (Could not add items to cart any longer), Chrome (could add to cart, but would not update item count on header) and Internet explorer (Nothing broke, but were getting 406 errors in the F12 Developer Tools).  All AJAX Code for ASP.NET

After the applying the updates we started receiving NetworkError: 406 Not Acceptable Error(s) on .axd files.

TypeError: Sys.Webforms is undefined

Sys.WebForms.PageRequesManager._initialize('ScripManager1, 'Main_Form', ['tpn...

TypeError: Sys.Webforms is undefined

var pgRegMgr = Syst.Webforms.PageRequesManager.getInstance()

I wanted to let you know because we cannot apply these patches until we know more about them.

Possible Red Flag - PRODUCTION is using 4.030319.34249 vs. our DEVELOPMENT and TEST using 4.0.30319.34280 (Could this be the issue, if so how do I get this version upgraded?)

Different web.configs for the same project depending on which site is requested

In my web application I want two different authentication modes. Windows and Forms.

What I'm trying to achieve:

For irrelevant reasons I need to set up two different sites in IIS. One site is using Windows Authentication the other one Forms. I want the sites to be mapped to the same project. The only difference should be the web.config file, simply put one line:

Web.config 1

<authentication mode="Forms"/><authorization><deny users="?"/></authorization>

Web.config 2

<authentication mode="Windows"/><authorization><deny users="?"/></authorization>

An easy solution would be to simple have two sites mapped to two identical projects, containing different configs. Although, this could cause problems/difficulties in the future regarding maintenance, since one has to remember to publish new changes to both of the projects.

"If a client tries to enter site 1 with url XXX they should be prompted the Windows Autentication (configured in browser to support SSO). If a client tries to enter site 2 with url yyy they should be prompted to enter credentials for a SQL user in a form login."

Is it somehow possible to achieve my desire without having two identical projects?

This error page is headed: Web Platform Installer 5.0

The Error Message: Microsoft ASP.NET and web Tools 2013.5 for Visual Studio Express 2013 for Web - Base Locale.  This product did not install successfully.  Invalid command line argument. Consult the Windows Installer SDK for detaile command line help.

There are about 5 "View log here" links which take you to command line printouts.

This download took a very long time (hours) before I got this message.

I particularly wanted the PHP tools which I think, are included in this download

I can't find my way through this.  I am a student.

Could anyone help me please?
