Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Fatal error during installation

I have not been able to install any version of .NET Framework including and over 4.0. .NET Framework 3.x.x is still iffy as well but I think I got it. It all started when I got a a system update for .NET 4.8, wasn't able to install it, trying to uninstall previous versions and failing to install .NET since. I have tried almost every forum response answer out there including but not limited to: uninstalling previous versions, clearing %temp% folders, trying to install with a clean boot, and running the NetFxRepairTool and the .NET cleanup tool. Nothing. I have a couple guesses on what it could be, like something with the registry editor, permissions, and/or admin permissions... I have tried installing an offline installer for .NET 4, to get the log file to put on here. Here it is:

.net Framework language pack installation on windows container is not working

Hi All,

We want to to add language pack in the windows container. We are using below command with passive switch 

C:\ndp472-kb4054530-x86-x64-allos-ara.exe /passive /q/norestart /log c:\file5.txt

However, its not working. We used similar command on the host machine and realized  even in passive mode prompts are not suppressed, see below image.  Please suggest way to install language pack on the windows container.

.net application working in 2003 server but having issue in 2012 server

Hi team,

I have application hosted in 2003 server and it works fine, now we want to port my application to 2012 server and i have set up my application. but when i try to download and run the exe being created, it throws error "Could not load file or assembly 'System.Drawing, Version=4.0.0.0, culture..", i have 4.5 and 3.5 frameworks on the new 2012 server. this error throws in our app start project. not sure what is the issue? Please guide

Software fails to start since feature update to Windows 10, version 1803 - returns .NET Framework Initialization Error "Please set registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to the .NET Framework install location"

Hi, 

My software fails to start on any PC that has put through the Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803, returning this error:  

".NET Framework Initialization Error
Please set registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to the .NET Framework install location"

We packaged it with Spoon a while ago and that could be the cause, but we can't repackage it and are looking for a workaround. Any suggestions/methods that I can employ to get the software working in latest Windows 10 update without repackaging? Thanks!

Hi guys,

i have a big problem, we have 300+ hp t610 thin clients with Win Embedded Standart and we need install .NET 2.0 framework SP2(no COre), but there isn't any link to download msi installer. Do I have any option how to remotelly install it?

Hello,

Bit of a strange one our in house developer has updated our bespoke application to requiring .Net 4.8 it makes a check when it gets installed on a machine.

I've also got a bit of software that checks what version of .Net is installed as I had to ensure all our machines run 4.8

After using the offline 4.8 installer all our machines report back that 4.8 is installed (all good).

However i have some machines used remotely that connect in via VPN nearly all of them are fine.

I have a couple of machines that run our application and install fine when on the network proper and not VPN'd in but as soon as I connect via VPN the application fails to run with the following error :-The caller was not authenticated by the service.

I've changed all the VPN settings to reflect those that are working same thing, I investigated further and the only thing that the machines that are not working which where working on the previous 4.7 version is that in the advanced features of windows add remove it is listed as 4.7 even though everything reports that it is 4.8 on the machines.

I even went as far as to reset the OS and fully update a machine again to the latest only to have the same issue.

The machines are Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home the application in question talks to a SQL database and both machines worked prior to the update. I can't run the 4.8 installation as it tells me I have it already installed.

At a bit of a loss atm as to what I can do to remove 4.8 and re-install it....

general question - .net 2

Hi,

Had a vendor today that installed their software on Windows 10 workstation for managing some modern equipment.

I provided clean fully patched Windows 10... When he started the installation his soft asked for .NET 2 (!).

So I had to provide Internet connection for downloading this Jurassic park version of .NET...

And now I would like to ask forum... is it normal that in 2019 reputable vendor uses .NET 2 in his application?

Another excellent masterpiece!

Seems they don't care about version number property anymore!

Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redist/Runtime

Version 14.22.27821 was released AFTER 14.23.27820
(according to digital signature signing time - both released on Jun 20, just few hours difference)

They don't know that minor version has more priority than build number, so they increase 22 to 23 but decrease 821 to 820

The result? I'm confused, and don't know which one is newer?

14.22 which is newer in date and has higher build number?

or 14.23 which is older in date and has lower build number?

Hi!

I 've got .Net Framework 4.5.2 installed but my main application used at work needs 4.6.1 from now. I can not install the new version.Installation ends with error code: (0x0000371B), "One or more required members of the transaction are not present. "

Searching for a solution I noticed that my lates updates on Windows didn't make it. It is KB4520007 with error 800736B3 and KB4514603 with error 8007371B and I think that this is the reason. These are two important updates that ends with error. There are also some optional updates ended with failure. I couldn't deal with it by myself. Any suggestions? I tried  to restart Windows Update, used DISM, sfc scan and nothing could help. Din't try .NET Framework Cleanup Tool yet. Do you think that this might help?

Visual Studio does not detect .NET Framework 4

Hello, I have installed Visual Studio 2010 Professional, which also installed .NET Framework 4.

When I try to create a new project, it only gives me the option to use Frameworks 2, 3 and 3.5 . v4.0 does not appear on the drop down list.

Also, when I try opening a .NET Framework 4 project I get the "this project is targeting ".NET Framework=v4.0"" error.

I've used the tool to see if .NET Framework 4 is correctly installed, and it is!

I don't understand, I've uninstalled and installed Framework 4 and VS2010 a thousand times, clean installs and all and VS still does not detect that Framework 4 is installed. I've also tried installing the standalone version of Framework 4, but no dice. Please help, I'm desperate!

My system is Windows 7 x64 Home Premium, 8g ram, intel i7...

Get HTML from WebBrowser without opening

Hi, I have a problem. I want to get HTML of website but i can't use web client. I have an idea.. Create a new class and webbrowser inside and then use webbrowser1.document to get html but i have to open the window with class.. but i want to do this operation without opening. Is it  a possibility to do that? When I cause method which enable mi to get html od document i get an empty document because the website isn't upload.

Please help!
