Been down the rabbit hole for three days on this one trying different things I find on the Internet.
Windows installer repairs, Framework Repair Tool, Offline Installer, Web Installer, Clean boot installation.  Still getting same error code as day one.
Setup cache shows v4.5.50938. Installed updates shows .NET Framework 4.5.1 and 15 installed updates.
Tried .NET 4.6 and 4.6.2 also with same error code.
What else can I tell you to help find an answer to this fail?

I have some software (Neuro-Programmer 3) which had worked on Windows 7, but which no longer works on Windows 10. The guy who developed the program, for health reasons, is no longer able to support the program, nor is his website up anymore. I'd like to be able to use the program, but the only way others have found to use it have been to download a Virtual Box, then buy a copy of Windows 7 to run the program. This seems a BIT extreme, and I'm hoping I can find a way to get it to work here.

I have looked at other posts regarding this issue and none of the solutions seems solve my issue. I have run the collect.exe tool to collect information for a .net framework setup, but dont know where to upload the cab file.

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I have a seemingly simple problem for which I haven't been able to find an answer.

I have developed a program which required .NET framework 3.5 to run. I want to deploy the .NET framework 3.5 on the user's machine automatically when they install my software. This seems like a very simple problem. I am just trying to install the dependency<g class="gr_ gr_54 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" data-gr-id="54" id="54">before</g> installing my software. Now, the problem is I can't seem to figure out any way to install dotNet framework 3.5 on windows 8 and 10 automatically, especially if the Group policy "Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair" is disabled which is disabled on a lot of machines.

The following is what I have tried so far.

1. Installing through the dotNet framework 3.5 setup exe available at the following link. This setup does not work on windows 8 or 10.

I'm sure there are many many threads about this same issue, I've read some but I still havent been able to fix my problem. It's been a while since I got this error, can't use many programs that I have and it's getting irritating. I'm running Win 8.1 like most people that has this same issue. I don't know much about this stuff and I really need this issue fixed.

I am trying to automate the installation of the .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows Server 2012 R2 with the following PowerShell command:

Install-WindowsFeature -Name Net-Framework-Core -source C:\Downloads\source\sxs

My question is, how do I download the installation media for .NET 3.5 (the source\sxs folder)?

Any official Microsoft sources (see below) only give you the option of downloading an .exe file, not the actual installation bits.
