WCF Service over Https

$

Hi,

I have a wcf service hosted on the IIS 8.5. The service is currently implemented with the Windows authentication with AD group and uses https protocol with domain name(lets say ABC). This service is running under a service user svcAppA. Now I want this service to be available for kerberos authentication from the client end.

So I have done the following stuffs based on the various microsoft links.

1. Created a SPN name SetSPN -i HTTPS/ABC domain\svcAppA on the domain level in AD.

2. Added <identity> tag

<identity><servicePrincipalName value="HTTPS/ABC" /></identity>

3. Under IIS, Sites->AppA->Authentication-->Advanced Settings--> Unchecked 'Enable kernel-mode Authentication'

4. Under IIS, Sites->AppA->Authentication-->Providers--> Added 'Negotiate' and moved at level2. level1 I have 'NTLM'.

5. Under IIS, Sites->AppA->Configuration Editor. I have the following setting under 'system.webServer/security/authentication/windowsAuthentication'

useKernalMode=false

useAppPoolidentity=true.

6. Added a DisableLoopbackCheck =1 under the regedit. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa.

I have tried these steps but still when the client calls the web service through kerberos token getting an 401 error.

ERROR: HTTP Error 401. The requested resource requires user authentication

Help me if I'm missing something or doing some wrong setting is IIS. I'm a newbie to kerberos.

Visual Express for my workplace??

Hi everyone,

I am currently building the a small web application for team using VS express. The application allows me to monitor training that have been given to agents as well as training that have to receive.

Is it really possible for to use it VS express to do it? or I need a proper  an enterprise version with a licensed database? at the moment, I am just VS Express local database.

Is this illegal to use these MS tools for such things, although I am not making money at all?

Thank you

Blocking issues not shown when using /passive /showfinalerror

We run the .NET (4.6.1) installer with the /passive flag during our installer. However sometimes installation fails due to blocking issues and the user is unable to see the actual problem. We tried to use the /showfinalerror flag to make the problem visible to the user however it looks like blocking issues are not handled as errors as there is no dialog shown. Is there a way to run the setup in passive mode with some feedback to the user when a blocking issue occurs? Or else introducing a flag /showblockingissues would really help!

I'm sure there are many many threads about this same issue, I've read some but I still havent been able to fix my problem. It's been a while since I got this error, can't use many programs that I have and it's getting irritating. I'm running Win 8.1 like most people that has this same issue. I don't know much about this stuff and I really need this issue fixed.

I ran NetFxRepairTool and gathered many logs,

NET Framework compatibility.....

I have a Win Server 2012 R2 server with .NET 4.0 installed and need to upgrade it to .NET 4.6.1 to support an app. I read somewhere in this fourn that NET Framework 4/4.5.x/4.6.x cannot coexist with each other. So during the install of the new  .NET Framework will the older NET versions be automatically removed, or will I simply end up a conflict that is hard to resolve?

TIA,

Unable to open sites via VS 2015

I am unable to open HTML files via VS 2015 but if I go into the directory I can open them there. I keep getting a 403.14 error and I've tried the fix via IIS7/appcmd yet this issue persists.

At first I ignored it and just continued to work using the one in the folder to open for viewing, but now I'm hitting a wall on Azura where I keep getting told I don't have permission to view this directory or page. I believe the two issues may be connected, are they?

There really isn't decent documentation on this issue from either the VS 2015 or Azura side of it. I've rolled across several posts searching via Bing, Google, and Yahoo over the past six hours looking for an answer; nothing has worked and it seems to be a popular issue.

Dotnet web Application launching python based exe dialog window successful on IIS express and not successful on IIS 7 and above

I have asp.net web application, on button click invokes the python based exe dialog window(coded in python)

The above is successful when the dotnet application tested using VS IIS express.

When the same web application code published on IIS 7 & above the invokation of python based exe getting invoked but the dialog window doesnt showup(which will get created through the execution of code in .py file)

Had coded and configured as below:
1. Created web page(.aspx) to fill UI entries
2. On the button click of above #1, class library specific .cs file gets invoked.
3. A method in the .cs file invokes python based exe as per below:
  a.   Process py = new Process();
   py.StartInfo.FileName = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ExePath"].ToString();
   py.StartInfo.Arguments = serverName + projectFolderPath;
   py.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
            py.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
            py.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
            py.Start();
            py.WaitForExit();
            int retValue = py.ExitCode;
            return retValue;

 b. IIS 7 & above settings:
1)Enabling and disabling ASP.NET Impersonation.
2)Checked whether MIME type for exe is added or not.
3)In Application pools, Advanced settings Changed the Application Pool Identity to LocalSystem and adding custom account which has administrator permissions.
4)In Application pools, Advanced settings Enable 32-bit applications to True and false.
5)Added the IIS_IUSRS to the binding folder and added the admin id as well.
6)Double-click IIS Admin Service,On the Log On tab, select the Allow Service to Interact with Desktop check box and then Stop and restart the IIS Admin Service.

4. Once the process started, .py file which is part of python based exe will construct the dialog window and shows up

After this, there is only 2 files in the directory.  Program.cs and projects.json

There are a bunch of "Core" packages in my "C:\Users\ben\.nuget\packages" folder.

If I create a project in VS2015 or try dotnet restore, I get an invalid project.json and a bunch of missing dependencies.

Tried to uninstall all the .NET Core stuff and reinstall.

Any thoughts?
