.NET Framework 4 unable to install on Windows 7 64-bit

Hi, I've searched around for possible fixes for this problem but I had no luck in being able to install .NET.

A few seconds after attempting to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile, a message pops up, saying that".NET Framework 4 has not been installed because:

The requested operation failed. A system reboot is required to rollback changes made."

Methods I've tried:

1. Uninstalling my current .NET Framework 4, then rebooting/restarting and reinstalling .NET

2. Using the .NET Framework Cleanup Tools to clean all versions of .NET, rebooting then reinstalling

3. Installing while my computer was in a clean boot state

Regardless of what I do, all of these methods ended up with the same "system reboot is required" message after failed installation. It seems that rebooting/restarting my computer wouldn't do anything..

I've used the .NET Framework 4 (Standalone installer) for these methods.

If it helps (doubt it), I was initially trying to install AutoCAD on this computer, and realised that AutoCAD wouldn't install because of .NET Framework 4 being either outdated or not on the same version as AutoCAD requires.

Thanks.
