I have noticed a similar post about this issue which suggests uninstalling the update KB2633880. I could not find this update in the list of numbered installed updates. The updates that XP wants to keep reinstalling are KB923168, 2604992, 2656352,
2729450, 2742596, 2789643, 2833940, 2844285 2863239, 2746918, 9603707. The last one (KB9603707) fails and the related add on for Firefox also fails. Please let me know if you need further details.
